The Qualities of a Godly Woman – Proverbs 31

Proverbs 31:30

I’m sure many of you have heard the term “Proverbs 31 Woman” or have read the chapter yourselves. Proverbs 31 is such a beautiful illustration of the qualities of a christian woman.

Proverbs 31 is often associated with being a good wife, mother, homemaker, or a strong woman of faith. Around Mother’s Day especially, this well-known passage is frequently used to celebrate women for their love and devotion to their families.

But the biblical qualities of a godly woman are not reserved only for wives and mothers, nor is Proverbs 31 meant to be a checklist that determines the strength of your faith. Whether you are single, married, young, older, raising children, waiting on prayers to be answered, or simply seeking to grow in your faith, this passage still holds deep meaning for your life today.

A woman who fears the Lord loves Him with all of her heart, soul, and strength. Everything she does is to bring Him glory. Her heart belongs to the Lord.

Our hearts are the depository of all wisdom. The source that affects our speech and conduct. The heart is the center of thinking and reason. The source of our emotions, will, and our whole inner being.

The fear that we should have for the Lord is not a scared type of fear but a sacred fear. When you open your heart and incline your ears to receive God’s love and wisdom, you will indeed become captivated by the Lord. You will not be able to get enough of His love. The fear of the Lord is to revere Him, to stand in awe of His wonder and wisdom. Fear is respect and dependence on God.

We should strive to live a life bearing good fruit while still acknowledging our sinful behavior. The Spirit who now lives in us gives us life and strength in this dark world.

When our heart belongs to the Lord, we will began to trust him and submit to His will for our lives. We will become more aware of our speech and practice using words like honey that will bring peace and comfort. All you do will be for the glory of God and your work ethic will be diligent.

As a child of God, we will want to prioritize our inner beauty and dress with strength and display a gentle and quiet spirit. All the days of our life we should strive to play out the role God as illustrated for us in His word.

This is a spiritual beauty the world needs more of. What a beautiful role we play as women of God.

I encourage you all to search for God like silver, call out for insight, and raise your voice for understanding. Search for Him as a hidden treasure, and there, you will understand the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 2).
