In the hustle and bustle of daily life, finding quiet moments to connect with God can feel challenging, but it is in these moments that we truly begin to feel His presence and peace. For me, the best way to start each day is by setting aside time for prayer, reflection, and devotion. From worship music to diving into scripture, I’ve developed a morning routine that helps me grow closer to God and stay focused on His guidance throughout the day. In this post, I’ll walk you through how I intentionally carve out time for God, and how this practice has transformed my spiritual life. Whether you have a busy schedule or simply struggle with distractions, I hope my routine inspires you to find a rhythm that allows you to cultivate a deeper relationship with Him.
But First, Pray.
The first thing I do in the morning is set the scene with some worship music. To me, music is such an inspiration and I love the encouraging words.
Then I will cozy up on the couch with my coffee, music in the background, and start to pray. I invite God to come to spend this time with me and help me to absorb the information that I am reading. I also pray that I will not get distracted during this time. It can be so hard to stay focused and keep your mind from wandering off from the subject. I want my full attention set on God and all that he has to offer in this time with me.
Daily Devotional Book
After my prayer, I dive into my devotion. I used to do random devotions on my phone, but I found myself getting distracted.
Recently, I have been loving this devotion called New Morning Mercies by Paul David Tripp. It is such a wonderful gospel centered devotion that is very focused on life.
One aspect of this devotional book that I love is after very devotion, he has further scripture that you can read and study. The additional scriptures he provides usually correlate to the devotion of the day.
On that note, after I read the devotion, I will open my bible and read the scripture he included at the bottom of the page.
The bible that I use is a journaling bible and I LOVE IT. I can use the space on the sides to jot down anything I want to remember or reflect on again.
It is so special to have the opportunity to reflect on God’s word. He provided us with this wonderful instructional guide for us to live life, because he wants us to live the best life possible. We will have trials and hurt in this world, but he gives us the resources we need to handle these times.
Read A Faith-Based Book
After I complete my devotion of the day, I like to start reading a book that is faith-based. I am currently reading God Does His Best Work with Empty by Nancy Guthrie. This book is filled with truth and encouraging words that we all need to hear. It can be overwhelming when you feel stagnant and hopeless, and she dives straight into sharing words of wisdom on how to truly seek God’s will for your life. It truly puts a smile on my face every morning.

I know it may be tricky to find a time where the house is quiet if you have a busy schedule, kids, or a family member you are caring for. Maybe that means waking up 30 minutes earlier or going to bed later. This time to me is worth any sacrifice.
It is a time to grow your faith and strengthen your relationship with God. You could use this time to pray for relationships or hard times you or a loved one might be going through.
Trust me, spending time with God will provide security and a peaceful heart.
I hope as you read this post you were encouraged. I pray you are able to experience time with God, and invest time and intentionality on everything in your life so you can live beautifully.
